Cruises Feedback: I was in Russia (St. Petersburg) in June a few years back- - -during their observance of WHITE NIGHTS—that is when it does NOT get totally dark at all all night long for a few days…during that time of the year, we were in St. Petersburg for an entire week and it never rained once but it WAS rather chilly at night (about as cold as a night in mid APRIL in New York) ….definitely sweater weather… but really nice time of the year BECAUSE it’s dusk at 2AM…. We were in a hotel on the Neva River less then a mile from the Hermitage… It does get warmer later in June, but White Nights is really something to experience if you haven’t seen it before… One thing I was very surprised about was the LACK of children playing anywhere… rarely saw ANY children…except at an outdoor market where we saw several children all looking for DOLLARS…oh and they had to be crisp FLAT dollars witout any bends or tears in them… the banks over there will NOT take money that has been folded or torn in any way… Also, FOOD in St. Petersburg is- - - well RUSSIAN…….very few WESTERN restaurant type places…watch out for ANYTHING that says EGGS AND SAUSAGE…. our hotel served us RAW HOT DOGS and baked EGG WHITES….. yuck..
