Which Greek Islands do I need to visit?

Can you answer Reese’s question about Cruises?:

My family is planning a trip to Greece for 3 weeks in June 2010. Which islands would be the most memorable for us to visit?
We are planning one week in Crete (don’t know which area?), and two or three other islands, unless it would be more worthwhile to do a cruise of more Islands. Help!

Cruises Feedback: Kefalonia is brilliant!! you should go to skopelos and skithiatos where they filmed mamma mia, its pretty there. Crete is alright, we stayed there for a fortnight and didnt like it as much as Kefalonia, its more urban and not as ‘greek.’ Zante is nice, prefer Kefalonia though… can you tell i like Kefalonia??

In Crete you have to go to one of the water parks, and go see the old ruins, they have mainly rebuilt the ruins so it seemed pretty touristie, but good none the less. And if you have time there are some caves somewhere there, which we went to, on this mountain and there was this nice cafe there, they’re a tourist attraction so they should be on a map, it was pretty amazing.

Cruises Feedback: You must visit Mykonos! It’s so beautiful there, and supposed to a tourist hot spot.
Also, visit Santorini (Thera), and Lefkada (Porto-Katsiki there is so nice, and so are the beaches)… or Kefalonia. < 3 All of Greece is so beautiful, though, you can’t really go wrong no matter what you decide.
    Have fun in Greece!

Cruises Feedback: Crete is an excellent choice but one week may prove a short visit.

Much visited islands by locals and tourists alike, are, Corfu, Rhodes, Santorini, Myconos, not necessarily in that order.
What would have been ideal was to be able to visit all of them since each one has its own merits of beauty and interest to be visited.

Since you are a family, island hopping is not suggested, mostly on the cumbersome boat rides and the money involved to do so.

Needless to say that, any island you end up, would be a memorable experience, simply because they are beautiful.

The links below will give you an idea of the already mentioned ones, which are only 5 out of the hundreds bigger or smaller ones.

Santorini I can never have enough,Rhodes is big and delicious especially the side of Lindos.
Crete is big and every corner has something amazing to discover.

Cruises Feedback: Crete is an exellent choise, in Mykonos, Santorini and other islands will be also fine, but in Crete you have a very wide variety of choises and many sightseeing!
Rhodes would be a very good choice too.
    Have a nice holiday!

Cruises Feedback: Definitely go to Santorini. You need to go see the sunset in the town of Oia. The island is gorgeous and the wine is out of this world. Make sure you try the vinsanto which is a dessert wine you can’t get anywhere else. Great food, great views and super friendly people.

Cruises Feedback: Well, i’d vote for the cruise! You definitely have to see most of them! Every island has its own beauty and different things to provide you with…
