How much security is there on cruises ?

Can you answer SantiFFF’s question about Cruises?:
I’m going with a couple friends to a cruise around the Caribbean and we are departing from Mexico. We have a little grass that we want to take on board but we don’t know how much security there is on normal 7 day - not too expensive cruises. Do they check you? Any personal experiences, feel free.

Cruises Feedback: Like 10 people or less
Cruises Feedback: Are you going through customs? I would be more worried about them then the ship security. They had dogs going over the luggage at the airport when we went through.
Cruises Feedback: They scan your items when you get on and off the ships but I’ve taken a number of cruises and never saw any dogs or anything like that.
Cruises Feedback: Don’t know what it’s like departing from Mexico, but departing from NYC was just like an airport. Dogs, X-rays, etc.
Cruises Feedback: your carry on’s will be scanned the same way as they would in an airport. As far as packed luggage goes, there are dogs in the area where the luggage is loaded and random bags are searched. As far as on your person, you go through a metal detector, usually there are not dogs in the passanger area but I have seen it on one occasion.
Cruises Feedback: For me the risk is too great to jeopardize my whole vacation just for some pot. I have been on 8 cruises and have seen dogs sniffing out the bags at the port of departure. What you have on your person gets x rayed. With the money you pay for a cruise, it is not worth the risk. That is just my opinion.

i would say place the weed in a bag then in a peanut butter jar!!
if you going on a cruise you should buy florida flasks!
its the easiest way to smuggle ((((alcohol)))) on the cruise!

Cruises Feedback: When you go on a cruise, they take all of your luggage to a holding area on the ship where they sort it and check it for anything illegal. There are dogs that check every bag as well. If you are caught with it on board, your trip is over and you cannot get back on.
